(KSL News) A construction backup contributed to a serious crash on Interstate-15 near the 9000 South off-ramp this afternoon.

Crews are working on a surface street, and southbound traffic exiting the freeway was stopped. Utah Highway Patrol troopers say a driver was not paying attention and plowed into the back of a truck. The car slid underneath the truck.

Emergency crews cut the driver out of the car and airlifted him to the hospital. They say his injuries are not life-threatening.
