(KSL News) Many of Utah's smaller businesses have been hit hard by the rocky economic situation.
The Deseret News reports small-business conditions in October slipped below the lowest annual figure in at least 17 years.
The newspaper reports the Zions Bank Small Business Index for Utah fell to 84.0, down from a revised 85.4 the month before. The index measures business conditions from the viewpoint of the Utah small-business owner. A lower number relates to less-favorable business conditions.
The drop is likely a result of a tighter labor pool for Utah companies thanks to a lower unemployment rate in the state.
