(KSL News) The mother of a man accused of stabbing a man outside an Orem IHOP in September says he was off his medication and confused at the time of the crime.
Sergio Weffer is accused of approaching a couple outside a restaurant and then stabbing one of them multiple times with scissors.
Now his mother says in the hours before the attack he tried to refill his prescription, but the doctor was unable to see him.
She tells the Daily Herald that her son was off his medications but not by his own desire.
He's been booked into the Utah County Jail.
