After all that snow we received, Utah is buzzing. Some ski resorts are getting ready to open early, and the Utah Office of Tourism has just rolled out a new winter advertising campaign.
The ads just started airing today, and already people are calling in. Dave Williams, deputy director for marketing and research for the Utah Office Of Tourism, said, "They're auditioning to become Utah flakes as opposed to flakes that go elsewhere! So you have good flakes and bad flakes, and the good flakes go to Utah."
The Utah Office of Tourism has just launched a $1.7 million national television advertising campaign. And this year, instead of the traditional beauty shots that have promoted our snow, the spots go with a humorous approach. "We have thought it was different, hit our key selling points that we do have the ‘Greatest Snow on Earth,'" Williams said.
Timing couldn't be better! Our mountains just got pounded with snow. Ski Utah had a little fun with a Web site video produced just yesterday featuring a couple of guys wearing Barack Obama and John McCain masks, enjoying brand new deep power.
Jessica Kunzer with Ski Utah said, "I'm at Snowbird on Nov. 5, and they've gotten over 3 feet of snow in the last couple of days." Because of the conditions, Snowbird is planning to open tomorrow! Brighton and Solitude will open next week. The Canyon's has photos on its Web site showing a lot of snow.
Everyone's is getting excited about the upcoming ski season in Utah, even the snowflakes!
There are five ads that will air on cable, satellite TV and on the web, including YouTube.
