Coco Warner ReportingWe thought it would be fun to highlight some of the great people in our community who really do make a difference. We're giving them a public High Five.

This week, High Five is going back to school. The first stop is Woods Cross High School in Bountiful.

Assistant Principal Wendy Nelson wins our recognition for the excellent job she does with students. Woods Cross principal Vickie Ingram says Nelson never misses a beat with the kids.

A young man on the Woods Cross football team did not have a white shirt to wear on dress up day, so Nelson bought a shirt and tie and gave it to him.

Also, several emancipated minors attend Woods Cross High. Nelson has helped them find housing.

Ingram says these are just a couple of examples of Nelson's dedication to her job. Nelson has been working in the field of education for about 12 years. She has a background in corporate business, but says she finds working with students every day much more rewarding.

She says her favorite thing about her job is when students recognize their talents, and discover what they're capable of doing.
