Spending too much time under the same roof day and night can make anyone restless, even if video conferencing to work in pajama bottoms and sneaking snacks from the refrigerator between meetings never get old. With two offers redeemable at 166 hotels and resorts near Salt Lake City, you can plan a summer getaway with more fun—even on a tight budget.

These opportunities allow you to escape and experience a stress-relieving and entertaining break from the confines of home—with gas or activities included. Don’t let the summer slip away without enjoying the open air and the truly unique attractions that make the state so special.

1. Free gas to drive to world-class mountain resorts

There’s nothing like cool, fresh mountain air and fields ablaze with wildflowers to free the soul from worry. Utahns are lucky to have some of the best resorts in the world right here, and Alta, Snowbird, Solitude and Brighton are all offering $50 gas cards when you book two nights at participating properties.

"Visit Salt Lake wants to make travel more realistic for those wanting a getaway with gas vouchers or safe, socially-distanced activities through the Connect Pass," says Eric Thompson, vice president of marketing at Visit Salt Lake. "Everyone’s normal has changed, along with everyone's travel comfort-levels, and these deals are ways to help people feel a little freer."

When you select a complimentary gas voucher, you can drive up the canyon knowing your gas is as free as the breathtaking nature around you. Choose a room at one of these properties, where you can soak in views of rocky peaks and the smell of pine trees:

  • Alta: the Main Lodge, Peruvian Lodge, PhotoHaus or the Rustler Lodge
  • Snowbird: the Main Lodge, the Inn at Snowbird or the Cliff Lodge and Spa
  • Brighton: the Silver Fork Lodge and Restaurant
  • Solitude: The Crossings Town Homes, Powderhorn Lodge, Eagle Springs East or West Condominiums or Creekside Condominiums at Solitude Mountain Resort

2. Book a hotel in the city and learn while you play

If you’re the type who likes an active vacation, full of playing and learning, you can choose to get free activity passes instead of gas—an ideal choice for locals who want to staycation. When you book at a participating hotel, you will get two free Connect Passes that can save you 50-80% on regular admission to 16 of the city’s best offerings at 13 different attractions. If you choose a participating hotel in Salt Lake City proper, you can enjoy:

  • The Clark Planetarium
  • Discovery Gateway
  • The Leonardo
  • Lion House Pantry
  • Tracy Aviary
  • Natural History Museum of Utah
  • Red Butte Garden
  • Utah's Hogle Zoo
  • This is The Place Heritage Park
  • Utah Museum of Fine Arts

If you want to bring the kids, many of these hotels have pools and hot tubs that will keep them entertained and relaxed. All these attractions are close to participating hotels, like the Anniversary Inn at South Temple, City Creek Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites by Hilton downtown, the Marriott in Salt Lake City Center and many more.

3. Go to the point of the mountain for family fun

Are you coming from farther south and want to play closer to the point of the mountain? You can get free gas or admission to Thanksgiving Point attractions like the Gardens, the Museum of Ancient Life and the Museum of Natural Curiosity when you book a room for two nights. Participating hotels south of Salt Lake include:

  • Hampton Inn & Suites Salt Lake City in West Jordan
  • Holiday Inn in South Jordan
  • Homewood Suites by Hilton in Midvale/Sandy
  • Quality Inn in Draper
  • Ramada by Wyndham in Draper
