This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
When you pick an item up from the shelves in the grocery store, I'm guessing your first thought is not about the packaging required to transport that item to the store. I must confess packaging isn't something I had thought much about until after my visit with Gregg Williams.
Gregg has been involved with the manufacturing and packaging industry for almost 20 years. In 1990 he started a line of women's active wear. In 1997, Gregg sold that company and decided to start another business. This company was intended to manufacture goods so clients could concentrate on getting their product into the market.
A short time later, Gregg decided to diversify his company so instead of focusing only on soft goods and textiles, he would provide specialized packaging materials. With Bill Phillips and Ron Backowski, who are experienced veterans in specialized industrial packaging, on board, Spectrum Solutions was born.
Spectrum Solutions imports glass bottles for juice and wine companies throughout the U.S. In fact, this year Gregg estimates the company will import more than 30 million glass bottles. In addition to bottles, the West Jordan company also provides all types of products necessary for specialty packaging. The two most popular items, aside from glass bottles, are suspension pieces that protect glass during shipping and tarp ties that fasten down tarps used for transport.
In the last few years, Gregg says interest in natural shipping products has increased. He has taken pride in providing environmentally-friendly products and says since he introduced them in 2004, the packaging side of his business has doubled every year.
Gregg's philosophy for Spectrum Solutions is to do his best to make sure customers are taken care of while offering the best price and product.
