FILLMORE — Authorities have released the name of a driver killed in a head-on crash west of Fillmore last week.

Kenneth Newman, 68, of West Jordan, was driving on state Route 100 on March 30 when smoke blew across the highway and reduced visibility, leading to the collision.

Newman’s Buick Century crossed the center divide and hit a Ford pickup head-on, killing Newman and critically injuring his passenger, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said.

The passenger in Newman’s car was flown via medical helicopter to a hospital and the truck’s driver was also transported with serious injuries.

Utah Highway Patrol authorities released Newman’s name on Monday.
