Gunshot wound victim dropped off at Salt Lake County Jail in serious condition, police say

SOUTH SALT LAKE — A teen with a gunshot wound was dropped off at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail, 3415 S. 900 West on Friday evening, police say.

About 5:14 p.m., West Valley City police received reports of shots fired near 3700 S. Rothchild Circle.

When officers arrived they found shell casings but no victim on scene.

Moments later, Salt Lake County Metro Jail reported a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound had been dropped off at the jail.

He was transported to a hospital in serious condition, West Valley police said.
