HARVEY WEINSTEIN JURY IN THIRD DAY OF DELIBERATIONS

NEW YORK (AP) — As a jury, it can be difficult to hear day after day of testimony in a trial. And if the panel wants to hear part of any testimony again during deliberations, the process can be just as tedious. In the Harvey Weinstein case yesterday, the jury asked to re-hear testimony from prosecution witness Mimi Haleyi, who claims Weinstein raped her in 2006. The judge had two court stenographers take turns reading the questions and responses. Today, jurors have remained behind closed doors, deliberating without the flurry of notes requesting to rehear testimony and see pieces of evidence that marked the first two days of deliberations. It’s unclear what the readback request might mean for the panel — or how much, if any, progress it is making toward a verdict. To

POP SMOKE - HOUSE

LOS ANGELES (AP) — There’s an interesting twist to the shooting death of rapper Pop Smoke, who was killed in a break-in at a home in Hollywood Hills. Public listings indicate the home is co-owned by Teddi Mellencamp, who’s in “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and is the daughter of rock star John Mellencamp. In an Instagram post, Teddi Mellencamp says she and her husband were told of the shooting — and offer condolences to the family and friends of the victim.

POTENTIAL JURORS FOR ROBERT DURST PROMISED “FASCINATING” TRIAL

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A court case can be described in any number of ways. One of those words usually is not “fascinating.” However, the judge in Los Angeles presiding over the murder trial of Robert Durst told would-be jurors if there was ever a trial to be on, this would be it. One reason the judge is selling potential jurors on possible fireworks — is that the case is expected to take five months. The Durst case was deemed fascinating enough to be made into a Hollywood movie, with Ryan Gosling playing the defendant.

MAN CHARGED IN KILLING OF DREW CAREY’S FORMER FIANCEE

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Production of “The Price Is Right” is on hold for the rest of this week — while the game show’s host Drew Carey mourns the death of his former fiancee. Dr. Amie Harwick, a prominent therapist, died after a man threw her over the third-floor balcony of her Hollywood Hills apartment. The suspect, Gareth Pursehouse, is an ex-boyfriend — and it appears Harwick had a restraining order against him. The stay-away order recently expired — and in a Twitter post, Carey posted a link to an online petition calling for stiffer domestic violence laws.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE LANDS COMEDY ROLE

NEW YORK (AP) — It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Jennifer Lawrence; the actress has been on a two-year break from making movies. She’s back now — but her new project will be on Netflix. The streaming service says it has signed her to star in the Adam McKay comedy, “Don't Look Up.” It’s about two astronomers who set out to warn people about an asteroid heading for Earth. Shooting on “Don't Look Up" is set to begin in April.

RON McNAIR FEATURED IN DOCUMENTARY ABOUT BLACK ASTRONAUTS

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — The story of the second African American to go into space will be among those chronicled in a Smithsonian Channel documentary. “Black in Space: Breaking the Color Barrier” will feature Ron McNair’s journey into space — one that was nearly grounded when he was 9 years old. That’s when he tried to check out a book on calculus from a South Carolina library — and a librarian threatened to call the police if he didn’t leave. McNair overcame racism, segregation, poverty and other obstacles to make it into space, only to perish in the 1986 explosion of the Space Shuttle Challenger. “Black in Space: Breaking the Color Barrier” makes its debut on Monday.
