WEST JORDAN — A man currently awaiting trial for unlawful sexual activity with a teenage girl is facing more charges after police say he sexually abused a sleeping woman.
Brandon MacKinnon Zimpfer, 34, of Sandy, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Jan. 23 for investigation of sexual battery and voyeurism.
Zimpfer is accused of using his cellphone to record himself inappropriately touching a female acquaintance as she slept, according to a police affidavit.
His arrest comes less than three months after Zimpfer was charged in 4th District Court with sexual exploitation of a minor and drug distribution, second-degree felonies; unlawful sexual activity with a minor and drug distribution, third-degree felonies; enticing a minor, a class A misdemeanor; and DUI, a class B misdemeanor.
In that case, Zimpfer is accused of encouraging a 15-year-old girl to sneak out of her house in October and meet with him. Zimpher gave the girl amphetamine and clonazepam, and the two engaged in sexual activity before Zimpfer dropped her off at a friend’s house, according to charging documents. When the girl’s parents found her the next morning, she was wearing Zimpher’s boxers, police say.
But Zimpfer, who had allegedly also taken drugs, got into a minor crash on his way home. When police questioned if he was with the victim and told him that she was a minor, Zimpfer said, “Oh (expletive), I’m in a lot of trouble,” before asking for a lawyer, the charges state.
A preliminary hearing in that case is scheduled for Feb. 12. Zimpfer was out on bail when he was arrested in his new case, according to court records.
