UNDATED (AP) — No. 1 Louisville faces No. 4 Michigan after both climb the AP Top 25. The Cardinals moved to No. 1 for the first time in 6 years in this week’s poll. The Wolverines matched the biggest climb for an unranked team in the 70-year history of the poll by hitting No. 4 after winning the Battle 4 Atlantis.

NEW YORK (AP) — Missouri State coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton was still playing for Hofstra the last time the Lady Bears appeared in the poll 15 years ago. Now the first-year coach has the team in The Associated Press women’s basketball Top 25 this week at No. 22.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — The SEC championship game features quarterbacks with contrasting strengths. Top-ranked LSU’s Joe Burrow is a nightmare matchup for defenses. Georgia’s Jake Fromm is often described as a game manager. Burrow enters the title game as the SEC’s leader in yards passing and total offense.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU coach Ed Orgeron says he’s a “step ahead” of potential suitors trying to lure passing game coordinator Joe Brady away from the No. 1 Tigers. Brady is in his first season with LSU after spending two seasons as a low-level offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints. Brady is one of five finalists for the Broyles Award presented to the nation’s top college assistant after helping LSU install a spread offense that has set numerous school records.

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi athletic director Keith Carter says he wants to find a football coach who can bring new energy to the program and excite a fan base that has grown apathetic. Carter is seeking a new coach after firing Matt Luke. Luke went 15-21 in three seasons.

UNDATED (AP) — Louisville climbed to No. 1 in the latest reshuffling of The Associated Press men’s college basketball poll while Michigan matched a record by going from unranked to No. 4. The Cardinals became the fourth No. 1 in five weeks this season following Duke’s home loss to Stephen F. Austin. Kansas is second, followed by Maryland in a week when every spot in the poll changed. The Wolverines matched Kansas in 1989 for the biggest jump from being unranked in the history of the poll that dates to 1949.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stanford moved up to No. 1 in The Associated Press women’s college basketball poll for the first time in seven years. The Cardinal’s ascension came after previous No. 1 Oregon and No. 2 Baylor both lost on Saturday. Louisville, which beat Oregon, jumped six spots to No. 2. Oregon fell to third while Baylor plummeted to seventh. UConn and Oregon State were fourth and fifth.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The Southeastern Conference has fined Auburn $250,000 after fans stormed the field celebrating the Tigers’ Iron Bowl victory against Alabama. It’s the school’s fourth violation of the league’s policy prohibiting fan access to the field or court.
