ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Isaiah Stewart made a go-ahead layup with 30 seconds left, Nahziah Carter scored 23 points and Washington beat No. 16 Baylor 67-64. Carter hit a tying 3-pointer with 1:38 left, and after Baylor missed a pair of 3-point tries, Stewart made his layup. Baylor failed to make a field goal over the final five minutes. Carter shot 4 for 6 on 3-pointers the Huskies' opener. He added seven rebounds.
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Salvon Ahmed ran for a career-high 174 yards and two touchdowns, and Washington rebounded from a two-game losing streak with a 19-7 victory over the Oregon State Beavers. The Huskies became bowl eligible with the victory, their eighth straight over the Beavers.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah broke the school scoring record for most points scored in a game and an NCAA Division I mark for margin of victory as it cruised past Mississippi Valley State, 143-49. Utah's 143 points shattered a record that has stood since 1960, when the Utes scored 132 points against Evansville. Utah's 73-point second half also set a record 70 in the first half of the same game. The margin of victory, 94 points, also set a school record.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Onyeka Okongwu had 20 points and 10 rebounds and Southern California pulled away to beat Portland 76-65. Okongwu had 20 points, 13 rebounds and a school-record-tying eight blocks in a season-opening win over Florida A&M, becoming the first freshman to post a double-double in his debut since Taj Gibson in 2006.
UNDATED (AP) — McKinley Wright IV scored 17 points, Tyler Bey had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Colorado pulled away to beat short-handed Arizona State 81-71 in Shanghai. The Sun Devils and Buffaloes opened the season in Shanghai for the fifth year of the Pac-12's Global Initiative.
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Southern California is hoping to drown out calls for Clay Helton's job against Arizona State. Helton's seat got hotter after a blowout loss to No. 7 Oregon last week. The Sun Devils are looking to bounce back after consecutive ugly losses knocked them out of the AP Top 25.
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The Colorado Buffaloes are looking to break out of their five-game skid and win out to become bowl eligible. It starts this weekend on homecoming against Stanford. The Cardinal are also eyeing a bowl berth to keep their streak going. Stanford has gone to 10 straight bowl games.
BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — California linebacker Evan Weaver received word this week that he's one of 12 semifinalists for the Dick Butkus award. That came on the heels of Weaver invited to the Senior Bowl. It's the latest in a long line of honors for the Golden Bears defensive captain and emotional leader. Meanwhile, California is mired in a four-game losing streak that's taken the shine off what began as a promising season. Cal hosts Washington State on Saturday. Both teams are 4-4 and 1-4 in the Pac-12.
