SALT LAKE CITY — Down to its third string quarterback and coming off three straight losses, it would have been fairly easy for BYU to write off their game against then-No. 14 Boise State as a loss.

Even the most optimistic of BYU fans struggled to see a Cougar win, with only 17% of its fan base picking BYU to beat the Broncos, almost two-thirds lower than the previous low of 48% for the game vs. USC.

But the team didn't get the memo, as BYU went up 28-10 in the third quarter and held on to knock off the ranked Broncos 28-25 Saturday in LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Only 8% of all KSL.com College Football Pick'em participants correctly picked BYU's win, which was the lowest winning percentage this season, almost half of the previous low of 15% (USC vs. Utah and Toledo vs. BYU).

Utah State's fan base had the highest average in Week 8 with 22.4 points per game. Utah was second with 22.1 and BYU third with 22.0. For the season, Utah hangs on to a 21.9-21.8 lead over Utah State, with BYU coming in with 20.5.

This week's first, second and third place winners will get $100, $70 and $40 Visa gift cards, respectively, courtesy of Peak Orthopaedics, which provides comprehensive joint care for the entire body from expert orthopaedic and sports medicine physicians. The overall first, second and third place winners will receive $500, $250 and $115, respectively. See KSL Pick'em for the tiebreaker rules.
