WASHINGTON CITY — Five vehicles were involved in a crash that killed a 20-year-old Riverton woman just before noon on Friday.
Eastbound traffic was stopped at a red light at the intersection of state Route 9 and Telegraph Road when a 2017 Ford F-350 struck a Mazda hatchback in the rear, according to a Department of Public Safety press release. The Mazda, which was in the left through-lane, spun into the rear of a Chevy Silverado and a Toyota Highlander, which was in the right lane. The Silverado then hit a Toyota Tacoma.
The driver of the Mazda, 20-year-old Kylie B. Park of Riverton, was given CPR at the scene and was then transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition. She died shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The driver of the F-350 that started the deadly chain reaction was sent to the same hospital in good condition.
"Equipment violations, speed, alcohol and/or prescription drugs are suspected and being investigated," according to the Department of Public Safety.
Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt except the driver of the F-350.
