FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Ina Kim-Schaad won the opening hole with a par and never trailed Thursday on her way to a 3-and-2 victory over Talia Campbell in the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur.
Kim-Schaad won the USGA championship 19 years after she was runner-up in the 2000 U.S. Junior Girls.
The 35-year-old from New York City earned an exemption into the U.S. Women's Open next year in Houston, as well as being exempt from qualifying for the U.S. Women's Amateur the next two years and the Women's Mid-Amateur for 10 years.
She won the first and third holes with pars at Forest Highlands. Kim-Schaad was 1 up when Campbell birdied the par-5 12th, but Kim-Schaad won the 15th with a par and closed out Campbell with a birdie on the 16th.
