UPDATE: Police interviewed two persons of interest then booked one of them — a juvenile male — into Juvenile Detention for investigation of several criminal charges, according to a news release from the Heber City Police Department. Investigators determined the second person of interest was not involved in the incident and they were released.

HEBER — Officials have detained two persons of interest after shots were fired during what police say was possibly a burglary at the liquor store in Heber Sunday night, according to Wasatch County Sheriff's officials.

They are calling the area surrounding the store "an active crime scene" as they search for others who may have been involved.

An alarm went off at the Utah State Liquor and Wine Store, 262 E. Gateway Dr., around 6:30 p.m., according to Heber City Police Lt. Jeremy Nelson. When officers arrived at the scene they saw broken glass and then heard gunshots.

Officials have detained and are interviewing two persons of interest, Nelson said. Heber City Police have asked people to avoid 1200 South from Mill Road to Main Street due to an "ongoing incident."

"We still have a perimeter up to make sure there is no other outstanding suspects and it is still an active crime scene," Nelson said.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this story mistakenly listed Heber City Police Lt. Jeremy Nelson as working for Wasatch County Sheriff's Office. The story has been corrected.
