OGDEN, Utah (AP) — An Ogden man accused of fatally beating a neighbor last year has pleaded guilty to one count of murder. The Standard-Examiner reports 23-year-old Jose Robert Zamora's sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 22 and he faces a possible sentence of 15 years to life in prison. Zamora was charged in the death of 74-year-old David Martin Paulson, whose body was found bloodied and beaten behind an Ogden restaurant in July 2018. Zamora was set to go on trial Sept. 17 before he reached a plea deal.
OREM, Utah (AP) — A man who battled alcohol addiction for 12 years has found new purpose and healing by playing his makeshift drum set, made of a plastic bucket affixed to his bike, while riding around Orem, Utah. The Daily Herald reports 35-year-old Scott Schwarz is often found riding his bike and playing the drums on a single construction bucket.
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — An Italian real estate company has restarted a process to develop its land outside the Grand Canyon's South Rim. Stilo Development Group USA and the town of Tusayan are asking the U.S. Forest Service for permission to improve forest roads and run utility lines to their property. A proposal submitted this week is part of a long history of Stilo pushing for development in the small town.
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — A Utah police department has released body camera footage showing the moments before an officer fatally shot a man during an altercation in a DUI processing area. West Valley City police say 31-year-old Chad Michael Breinholt was under investigation for suspected DUI and was being processed at the police station. An investigation by Salt Lake City police is underway.
