EVERETT, Mass. (AP) — Police have released the name of the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle in suburban Boston.
State police on Sunday identified the victim of the crash on Route 16 in Everett at about 9:30 p.m. Friday as 62-year-old Francis Stamegna, of Melrose.
Police say Stamegna and a woman were running across the street against the pedestrian signals at an intersection when they were struck by a westbound car that had a green light.
The woman was not hit.
Stamegna was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the car, a 24-year old South Weber, Utah man, stayed at the scene and no charges have been filed.
The crash is under investigation.
