WASHINGTON, Washington County — A St. George man was arrested early Sunday after police say he went to the home of the mother of his children and stabbed her new boyfriend.

About 1:15 a.m., police were dispatched on reports that one man had been stabbed multiple times in his torso, Washington police said in a statement. The incident occurred at 433 W. Harvest Lane in Washington.

When officers arrived at the home, they found Jason Reveal, 45, at the front door with blood on his hands and holding a small pocket knife, according to a police affidavit filed in 5th District Court. Reveal asked the officers to kill him, police said, and told them he had killed the man in the home.

The injured man was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition, police said. His name and age were not immediately released.

Several witnesses told police that Reveal has several children with the stabbing victim's new girlfriend. Reveal and the woman have been separated since March, police said. Two of their children were sleeping in the woman's home on Sunday.

"Jason arrived at (the woman's) residence and pounded on the front door. Jason then broke the front door frame, causing the door to open, and entered the residence. Jason went to the master bedroom and stabbed (the man) over 20 times. Victim suffered wounds to the left arm, left leg, and the left side of his torso, including a collapsed lung," officers wrote in the affidavit.

The woman told police her boyfriend was still in bed when Reveal allegedly stabbed him. Reveal had made comments in the past about harming him, the woman told police.

Reveal told officers he went to the house to see if the new boyfriend was staying the night there. When he saw the man's vehicle, "he became extremely angry," the affidavit states.

The two children in the home at the time woke up during the fight, according to police. One told officers they hid in their closet and the other said they were "paralyzed with fear" as they heard what was happening in the master bedroom, the affidavit says.

Reveal was booked into the Washington County Jail for investigation of attempted murder, two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child and aggravated burglary.
