18-year-old killed in crash in West Valley City

WEST VALLEY CITY — An 18-year-old passenger was killed Wednesday evening in a crash in West Valley City, police said.

About 8:15 p.m., A 17-year-old girl was westbound on 6200 South when she ran a red light at Mountain View Corridor, West Valley police tweeted. A southbound vehicle hit the passenger side of the teen's vehicle.

A passenger in the girl's car, 18, died at the scene, police said. Her name was not immediately released.

Both drivers were taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Southbound Mountain View Corridor was closed in the area after the accident.
