NEW YORK (AP) — Kerwin Roach II scored 22 points to help Texas beat TCU 58-44 at Madison Square Garden and advance to the NIT championship. The Longhorns will play Lipscomb for the NIT title on Thursday night at MSG. Texas can win its first NIT title since 1978.
UNDATED (AP) — Oregon is going into the women's NCAA Final Four as the only newcomer in a field that includes three other teams with multiple national titles. Ducks coach Kelly Graves knows the Ducks are different, but says those other teams had to get to their first Final Four and win their first titles at some point. Oregon plays two-time national champion Baylor on Friday. Defending champ Notre Dame plays 11-time title winner UConn in the other national semifinal game in Tampa.
UNDATED (AP) — Guards Jarrett Culver and Matt Mooney took drastically different paths to Texas Tech, which has reached the Final Four this weekend. Hometown standout Jarrett Culver was the first recruit Chris Beard reached out to when he got to Lubbock as head coach three years ago. When the Red Raiders were coming off their first NCAA Elite Eight last season and had to replace a senior point guard, they targeted Mooney. He was a graduate transfer from South Dakota who started his college career at Air Force.
UNDATED (AP) — Duke's Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett are the second freshman teammates to earn first-team All-America honors. Williamson and Barrett head The Associated Press All-America team, joined by Tennessee's Grant Williams, Murray State's Ja Morant and Cassius Winston of Michigan State.
