SPANISH FORK — A driver of a tractor died after he apparently had a medical problem before a head-on crash with another vehicle on state Route 147 Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Utah Highway Patrol officials said a John Deere 520 tractor was traveling west on SR-147 west of Spanish Fork when the driver apparently had some sort of medical problem and slumped over on the steering wheel.

The tractor then crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a Ford Taurus head-on shortly before noon, troopers said.

CPR was performed on the tractor driver before he was transported to a hospital. He died at a hospital shortly after arriving, officials said. His name and age weren't immediately released. It wasn't clear if he died from injuries suffered in the crash or from the medical episode.

The driver of the Taurus suffered minor injuries.
