UNDATED (AP) — Tennessee is to face Vanderbilt again in its first game as nation's No. 1 in 11 years. The Vols lost to the Commodores a day after reaching No. 1 for the first time in 2008. This time, the Vols are hoping for a different outcome and a longer stay at No. 1.
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — NFL scouts, coaches and prospects have gathered in Mobile, Alabama, for the Senior Bowl. The game for top senior NFL prospects and junior graduates will feature quarterbacks like Missouri's Drew Lock, West Virginia's Will Grier and Duke's Daniel Jones.
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Dedric Lawson had 29 points and 15 rebounds, Devon Dotson hit the clinching free throws with 5.9 seconds left and ninth-ranked Kansas held on to beat No. 24 Iowa State 80-76. Marcus Garrett added 16 points and Lagerald Vick had 14 for the Jayhawks. Marial Shayok led the Cyclones with 26 points.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Makai Mason scored 29 points and Baylor cruised to an 85-73 win over West Virginia. The Bears (12-6, 4-2 Big 12) survived a second-half comeback attempt to grab their fourth win in five games.
UNDATED (AP) — Tennessee moves to No. 1 in AP Top 25 for first time in 11 years after three of top five teams lose. The Vols won both of their games last week, while Duke, Michigan and Virginia all fell.
NEW YORK (AP) — Utah earned its first appearance in The Associated Press women's basketball poll in a decade, entering at No. 21. The Utes last were ranked in the final poll of the 2008 season. While there was change at the bottom of the poll, the top eight teams stayed virtually the same with Notre Dame leading the way. Baylor broke a tie with UConn for second. The Huskies dropped to third. Louisville and Oregon rounded out the first five teams in the poll.
