SANDY — Police on Thursday identified the 33-year-old man who died following a crash in Sandy, officials said.

Stephen Keddington, of Murray, was driving a Honda east on 9000 South when he turned into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a Mazda near 900 East about 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen said.

Keddington was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries. The driver of the Mazda, a 36-year-old man, only suffered minor injuries, Nielsen said.

The road was wet but not snowy when the crash occurred, and police are still investigating why Keddington swerved into oncoming traffic.

Officials closed 9000 South in the area shortly after the crash, but the road reopened about three hours later.
