CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Marcquise Reed scored 19 of his career-high 30 points in the first half as Clemson opened a big early lead over Georgia Tech on the way to a 72-60 victory that ended the Tigers' 0-3 start in Atlantic Coast Conference play. Reed scored 11 of Clemson's first 20 points as it built a 20-2 lead less than eight minutes into the game. Reed had seven of the Tigers' first 12 points of the second half as part of a 12-3 surge to take control for good.
IRVING, Texas (AP) — Former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum, Arkansas State athletic director Terry Mohajir and retired Gen. Ray Odierno have been added to College Football Playoff selection committee. CFP Executive Director Bill Hancock also says Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens will serve as committee chairman for another season.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Jessica Shepard had 20 points and 11 rebounds and No. 1 Notre Dame took command with a 24-1 second-quarter run in a 80-51 victory at Virginia Tech. Arike Ogunbowale added 19 points for the Fighting Irish (17-1, 5-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). The win is the 10th in a row for top-ranked Irish.
UNDATED (AP) — Quarterback Tate Martell says he is transferring from Ohio State to Miami. Martell announced on Twitter: "I'm a Hurricane." He sat behind record-setting Buckeyes quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. last season and appeared to be the heir apparent when Haskins left early for the NFL draft, but Ohio State lured Georgia transfer Justin Fields to compete for the starting spot.
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — Wide receiver Jeff Thomas says he's returning to the Miami Hurricanes and not transferring after all. The speedy wideout, who was dismissed by the Hurricanes in November and was set to enroll at Illinois, said in an Instagram post on Tuesday night that he's going back to Miami.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Jordan Nwora scored 18 of his career-high 32 points before the break before adding a key 3-pointer late that helped Louisville hold off Boston College 80-70. The Cardinals rallied past the Eagles in the first half and led by as many as 23 before BC got within five late. Jordan then added another 3 and a dunk to seal the victory.
