SANDY — A 33-year-old man was killed in a head-on crash in Sandy Wednesday morning, officials said.
The man was driving a Honda east on 9000 South when he turned into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on with a Mazda near 900 East about 8 a.m., according to Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen.
The man driving the Honda was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries, Nielsen said. The driver of the Mazda, a 36-year-old man, only suffered minor injuries.
The road was wet but not snowy when the Honda crashed, and police are still investigating why the man swerved into oncoming traffic.
Officials closed 9000 South shortly after the crash, but the road reopened about 11:15 a.m.
Further details have not yet been released, including the victim's identity.
