MURRAY, Utah (AP) — Officials with a Utah mall where two people were wounded Sunday in a gang-related shooting are acknowledging that a false fire alarm that went off seconds before the shooting created confusion. A Brookfield Properties spokeswoman says that two messages were played inside the Fashion Place mall in a suburb of Salt Lake City. The first message said the original alarm was false, but a second message after the shooting told people evacuate or take shelter.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada's top water regulator has stepped down after eight years as state engineer, leaving several key court battles to his acting successor. King oversaw key water issues including an ongoing effort by southern Nevada water officials to get approval to pump and pipe groundwater from arid valleys west of the Utah to Las Vegas.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police in Salt Lake City have identified the victim of a fatal shooting. The Salt Lake Tribune reported Sunday that detectives have identified the victim as 26-year-old Mason Hunt. Officers responding to the shooting Saturday night found Hunt's body at the scene. No suspects have been identified.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah couple is on track to open the state's first tilapia farm after they got an exemption from a law that prohibits commercial farming of the species because it can pose a threat to native fish. The Salt Lake Tribune reports Cliff and Teri Sackett are looking to build an aquaponics facility capable of producing 17,500 pounds of tilapia each month in Sanpete County. The Utah Wildlife Board approved a variance request Thursday for the Moroni farmers.
