VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sep 2, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Canada's 29th annual Three-Day Novel Contest got under way early Saturday and runs through midnight Monday with 450 authors typing away.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. is monitoring the marathon, which operates on the honor system. Writers must agree to produce their work in the 72-hour period and then they have another four days to get their manuscripts perfectly typed and turned in to the contest organizers.
Entrants must present a witnessed statement confirming the novel was written over the long weekend, the CBC reports. The winning novel will be announced in December and published by a small publishing company.
