LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a woman struck and killed by a car last week in the Las Vegas area as a retired sheriff's lieutenant from Utah's Weber County.
The Clark County coroner in Las Vegas said Monday that 75-year-old Marva Whitehead died late Thursday of multiple injuries after the crash in suburban Henderson.
Whitehead owned an apartment near where the crash happened on Wigwam Parkway near Green Valley Parkway. Her death was ruled an accident.
The Weber County sheriff's office says Marva VanSlate-Whitehead worked for the department from 1990 to 2008.
Henderson police Officer Rodrigo Pena says Whitehead was not in a crosswalk when she was struck by an Acura sedan.
Police questioned the 44-year-old driver of the Acura and say alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
