LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Authorities in Logan say a driver fell asleep at the wheel and caused a crash that left one person dead.

Logan police say the collision occurred Sunday afternoon on U.S. 89 and also injured several people.

Police Chief Gary Jensen says the driver of an SUV was heading northbound at the time and the car crossed a line divider, crashing into an oncoming vehicle.

The driver and four passengers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 29-year-old man driving the other vehicle died at the scene. His wife and child were also in the car. Jensen says they are expected to survive.

Two other cars were also involved.

Police say one of the drivers suffered minor injuries.
