LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Jordan Nwora scored seven of his 19 points during a decisive 20-2 spurt to lead Louisville to a 73-59 victory over Robert Morris. Nwora was 7-of-12 shooting and added 13 rebounds for his third double-double in the last four games for the Cardinals (9-3).
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina offensive tackle William Sweet is skipping his final season and entering the NFL draft. The 6-foot-7 junior announced his decision on Twitter after earning his degree.
ATLANTA (AP) — Tashard Choice is returning to Georgia Tech as running backs coach for Geoff Collins. Choice led the Atlantic Coast Conference in rushing in 2006 and 2007 for the Yellow Jackets before spending six years in the NFL. Choice was an assistant coach at North Texas the last two seasons.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The Memphis Tigers' formidable ground game took a big hit when All-America running back Darrell Henderson opted to skip the bowl game. Their offensive coordinator has already left for another job, and the defensive boss isn't far behind. They meet Wake Forest in the Birmingham Bowl with the Demon Deacons missing star receiver Greg Dortch with an injury.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Former Miami wide receiver Jeff Thomas is headed to Illinois. The Illini announced Friday that Thomas has signed financial aid paperwork and plans to enroll for the spring semester. He will have two years of eligibility at Illinois, though it remains unclear when he will begin playing.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Freshman Elissa Cunane scored 19 points and No. 10 North Carolina State started fast and cruised to a 78-58 victory over Tennessee-Chattanooga. Cunane was 7 for 9 from the field to help the Wolfpack improve to 12-0.
WINTER PARK, Fla. (AP) — Mykea Gray and Laura Cornelius combined for 41 points on 11 of 14 3-point shooting and No. 24 Miami had a second-straight big game against an SEC foe at the Florida Sunshine Classic, racing to a 101-74 win over Alabama. Gray went 5 of 7 behind the arc and scored 21 points and Cornelius was 6 of 7 for 20 points.
