UNDATED (AP) — At least 20 college players are planning to skip bowl games this season and focus on preparations for the NFL draft. It is a growing trend in college football. The importance of non-playoff postseason changes from player to player and team to team. For many coaches, winning a bowl game has a specific value. Six coaches who have players sitting out their bowls this year also have nearly $400,000 in total bonuses at stake in those games.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Carsen Edwards scored 30 points and Ryan Cline added 19 as the Purdue Boilermakers broke out of an offensive funk and ran away from Ohio 95-67 on Thursday. The Boilermakers (7-5) ended a two-game losing streak and won only the second time in six games. Ben Vander Plas made four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points to lead Ohio (7-4), which had won five of its previous six. Teyvion Kirk also had 15 points.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan running back Karan Higdon says he'll skip the Peach Bowl. Higdon, a senior who has rushed for 1,178 yards this season, said on Instagram that it is in his best interests to miss the game to prepare to pursue an NFL career. The eighth-ranked Wolverines face 10th-ranked Florida in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta on Dec. 29.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin will start sophomore quarterback Jack Coan in the Pinstripe Bowl against Miami with Alex Hornibrook sidelined by a recurrence of concussion symptoms. Coach Paul Chryst says Hornibrook, a third-year starter, took part in more than two weeks of bowl practice before symptoms returned.

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Shakira Austin had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Kaila Charles added 16 points and 11 rebounds and No. 5 Maryland beat Delaware 77-53 to improve to 11-0. Stephanie Jones and Taylor Mikesell each had 15 points for the Terrapins, with Mikesell hitting five 3-pointers.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Jenna Allen scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Nia Clouden tied her career-high with 18 points and No. 22 Michigan State defeated Florida Atlantic 89-74 for the Spartans' seventh straight victory. Allen posted her third double-double this season.
