WASHINGTON (AP) — An NHL rivalry that has played out in many a playoff series resumes tonight in Washington as the Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Capitals. Tonight's other NHL contest finds the Montreal Canadiens skating at Colorado.

CHICAGO (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets began the season with losses in 18 of their first 26 games -- but they are looking for their seventh straight win as they visit the Chicago Bulls tonight. The Toronto Raptors -- still holding the NBA's best record despite two straight losses -- host the Indiana Pacers, who are a game behind the Bucks in the Central Division.

UNDATED (AP) — In college basketball action tonight, third-ranked Tennessee plays Samford, and number-five Virginia plays at South Carolina. Tennessee is coming off of a 102-92 victory over in-state rival Memphis over the weekend.

UNDATED (AP) — An early signing-day surprise in college football: Dax Hill, a five-star defensive back from Oklahoma, flipped from Alabama and signed with Michigan. Hill had been verbally committed to Michigan but switched to Alabama a few weeks ago. Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh lured him back when it mattered most. Hill is the younger brother of Oklahoma State running back Justice Hill.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Tampa Bay Rays officials say they're dropping a bid to build a stadium in Tampa and remain mum on the team's future in St. Petersburg. The team sent a two-sentence letter to St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman on Monday informing the city it won't seek to extend an agreement that allowed the Rays to explore new stadium sites in Hillsborough County.
