OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A former Weber County Sheriff's Office evidence technician who stole and ate methamphetamine while working in the evidence locker faces having to serve a year in jail.
Candice Follum was sentenced Tuesday under a plea agreement that requires that the 48-year-old serve half her time behind bars on work release.
Judge Noel Hyde also sentenced Follum to 40 prison terms, but Hyde suspended the prison time pending successful completion of three years of probation after the jail time.
Follum pleaded guilty in October to 20 counts of destroying or altering public records and 20 counts of possession or use of a controlled substance.
Follum was suspended and later fired in 2017 after sheriff's employees found her high on methamphetamine while working in the evidence locker.
