BOSTON (AP) — Max Mahoney scored 20 points with seven rebounds and five assists and Boston University used a 20-7 first-half run to beat Nicholls 75-63 on Saturday in the first meeting of the teams.
Tyler Scanlon scored 11 points with three 3-pointers, five assists and three steals for the Terriers (7-5), who made a season-high 20 assists and outscored the Colonels 46-22 in the paint.
Nicholls led 12-6 on Elvis Harvey's jumper, but BU went on a 12-5 run and Mahoney's jumper put the Terriers up for good, 21-19. BU finished on a 20-7 run for a 39-26 halftime lead after outrebounding the Colonels 23-14.
The Colonels hit 8 of 12 shots to open the second half and closed to 48-42 on Gavin Peppers' layup, but BU regained a double-digit lead, 61-50, on Guest's dunk with 7:45 to go and led by as many as 16 from there.
Jeremiah Jefferson scored 21 points with five 3-pointers for Nicholls (5-5), which saw its three-game win streak end. Harvey and Peppers added 13 apiece.
