UNDATED (AP) — Two NFL games are on tap today. Houston visits the New York Jets in a game starting at 4:30 p.m. Eastern, then Denver hosts Cleveland at night.

UNDATED (AP) — There's college football on the schedule today with six bowl games. The action starts at noon Eastern when NC A&T plays Alcorn State in the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Alex Ovechkin (oh-VEHCH'-kihn) leads the NHL with 28 goals following his 22nd career hat trick, which helped the Capitals win for the 11th time in 13 games. Washington beat Carolina 6-5 when Jakub Vrana scored in the sixth round of a shootout.

UNDATED (AP) — The Winnipeg Jets have taken over first place in the NHL's Central Division, one point ahead of Nashville and three ahead of Colorado. Mark Scheifele (SHY'-flee) scored the first and last goals in the Jets' 4-3 win over the Blackhawks. Ryan O'Reilly scored a short-handed goal 2:05 into overtime to lift the St. Louis Blues over the Avalanche, 4-3.

SELVA DI VAL GARDENA, Italy (AP) — Norway's Aleksander Aamodt Kilde has won by a large margin in a World Cup downhill that was marred by a nasty crash involving Swiss skier Marc Gisin. Gisin lost control before a jump midway down the Italian course, flew into the air and landed awkwardly on his side and back. He was then bumped into the air again and the back of his head hit the snow in a second impact. He was airlifted to a hospital.
