TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Former Maryland coach DJ Durkin is spending time with the Alabama football staff but hasn't been hired. Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said in a statement Friday that Durkin "is spending a few days with our staff in Tuscaloosa from a professional development standpoint."

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Penny Hardaway has created a buzz around the Memphis basketball program and is getting the Tigers ready for the biggest game they have played in years. There is much excitement and anticipation heading into Memphis' matchup with No. 3 Tennessee on Saturday after a nearly six-year break in the series. Memphis has won three straight against the Volunteers, who are rising in the rankings after knocking off the No. 1 team in the country.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee linebacker Quart'e Sapp says he's bypassing his final season of eligibility to enter the NFL draft. Sapp had a reduced role under a new coaching staff this season after ranking fourth on the team in tackles in 2017. Sapp announced his decision on the same day that he earned his degree.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky running back Benny Snell Jr. says he'll skip his senior season to enter the NFL draft but will play in the Wildcats' New Year's Day bowl game. Snell announced his decision in a video posted to Twitter on Friday.
