4 p.m.
An American psychology student who was fatally stabbed in her apartment in the Netherlands had texted a friend last week, saying her roommate threatened to kill three people.
Twenty-one-year-old Sarah Papenheim was a student at Rotterdam's Erasmus University. She was stabbed on Wednesday and a 23-year-old man has been arrested in her slaying, though his identity has not been released. On Friday, he was ordered detained for two more weeks while the investigation continues.
Papenheim's friend, Adam Pryor, said he received a text message from Papenheim on Dec. 6, saying her roommate threatened to kill three people. In the messages, shared with The Associated Press, Papenheim said she was going to have to go to the police. Pryor is not sure if she ever did.
Pryor, who studies at the University of Wisconsin, said Papenheim was a special person who tried to help everyone she could.

An American student living in the Dutch port city of Rotterdam has been stabbed to death in her apartment and police are preparing to arraign a man suspected in the slaying.
Police spokeswoman Miriam Boers confirmed Friday that the victim was 21-year-old Sarah Papenheim.
Boers declined to confirm reports in local media that she was a psychology student from Minnesota studying at Rotterdam's Erasmus University.
Rotterdam police say in a statement that she died Wednesday after a stabbing incident in her home near the university.
The 23-year-old suspect, whose name hasn't been released, was arrested the same day at the railway station in the southern city of Eindhoven. Boers says he will be arraigned soon at a behind-closed-doors hearing before an investigating judge.
