ANN ARBOR, MICH. (AP) — Michigan has dismissed running back O'Maury Samuels from its football program the same day he was arraigned on two charges, including one for domestic violence. The school did not say why the move was made. Samuels was charged with domestic violence and malicious destruction of personal property. Samuels did not run the ball for the eighth-ranked Wolverines after Oct. 13, when he had one carry for 3 yards in a win over Wisconsin.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — All-American running back Darrell Henderson says he's leaving Memphis after his junior season for the NFL draft. Henderson shared his decision Wednesday on Twitter. The native of Batesville, Mississippi, led the Football Bowl Subdivision with 25 total touchdowns. He is second nationally with 1,909 yards rushing and averages 8.9 yards per carry on 214 rushes. Henderson leads the nation with 2,328 all-purpose yards and 22 rushing TDs.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A person familiar with the agreement tells The Associated Press that All-Star pitcher Charlie Morton and the Tampa Bay Rays have reached a $30 million, two-year deal. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract hasn't been officially announced. The 35-year-old Morton was a first-time All-Star last season when he went 15-3 for Houston.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A person familiar with the negotiations says shortstop Jordy Mercer and the Detroit Tigers have agreed to a $5.25 million, one-year contract. Mercer had spent his entire seven-season big league career with Pittsburgh. The 32-year-old hit .251 with six homers and 39 RBIs, down from 14 homers and 58 RBIs in 2017.

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Rangers say defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk will be sidelined two to four weeks with a shoulder injury. Shattenkirk left in the second period of Monday night's game in Tampa. He took a check around the left shoulder and had a sling on his arm postgame. The 29-year-old was checked out on Tuesday and found to have a separated shoulder. Shattenkirk has one goal, seven assists and zero penalty minutes in 29 games this season.
