ATLANTA (AP) — Top-ranked Alabama is meeting number-four Georgia in the SEC championship game at Atlanta this afternoon. A win by Alabama could clear the way for Oklahoma or Ohio State to get into the four-team playoff field that will be announced tomorrow.
BELFAST, Northern Ireland (AP) — Buffalo is the winner in the title game of the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic in Northern Ireland. The Bulls, ranked number 21 in the AP college basketball poll, held off San Francisco for an 85-to-81 win. Buffalo led for most of the game but didn't seal the win until the closing minute.
KANSAS CITY (AP) — As the Kansas City Chiefs barrel toward the top seed in the playoffs, they have lost their leading rusher. Kareem Hunt was released last night, after a video surfaced in which he was seen shoving and kicking a woman in a Cleveland hotel in February. The Chiefs are confident in their backup, Spencer Ware, who had been the unquestioned starter heading into last season before a knee injury.
EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — The Vegas Golden Knights are looking for their sixth win in a row when they skate at Edmonton tonight. The Oilers are 3-1-1 under new coach Ken Hitchcock, including a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings Thursday night.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired minor league right-hander Wilkin Ramos from Oakland as the player to be named from the last month's trade of right-hander Tanner Anderson to the Athletics. The 18-year-old Ramos went 3-3 with a 3.15 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 14 appearances, including eight starts, with the Dominican Summer League Athletics in 2018.
