THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — The shooter who killed 12 people at a country music bar in Southern California began his adult life by enlisting in the Marines and getting married. Ian David Long carried out the shooting years after a divorce and a discharge and months after shouting brought a mental health specialist to his door. Authorities say he apparently killed himself not far from the home where neighbors said they could hear him aggressively arguing with his mother.
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Some of those who survived the Las Vegas massacre last year found themselves in another mass shooting, this time at a Southern California bar. The gunfire Wednesday killed a Navy veteran who had lived through the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history a year ago. Brendan Kelly says he survived both attacks and helped other people escape danger. He says he applied a tourniquet to his friend's bleeding arm and helped other victims at Borderline Bar and Grill.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Special counsel Robert Mueller kept a low profile for the past month, bringing no new charges ahead of the election. But with the last ballots cast, West Wing aides and those close to the president are bracing for Mueller to resurface again. At the same time, his probe now falls under the supervision of a Republican loyalist who has been openly skeptical of the special counsel's authority and mused about ways to curtail his power.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump is weighing in on Florida's hotly contested Senate race, citing the possibility of election fraud. Trump tweets: "Law Enforcement is looking into another big corruption scandal having to do with Election Fraud in #Broward and Palm Beach. Republican Gov. Rick Scott held a 0.21 percentage point lead over Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson on Thursday afternoon.
