SALT LAKE CITY — As fast as it seems to be flying by, the NFL just finished Week 8. This week quite a few locals made impacts on their games.

Kyle Van Noy (BYU)

Van Noy had one of the best games of his career for the New England Patriots' win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. He had eight total tackles, and within those eight tackles were two sacks. On one of the sacks he caused Bills quarterback Derek Anderson to fumble the ball. New England recovered the fumble and it turned into 3 points. The Patriots ended up winning 25-6.

Alex Smith (Utah)

Smith led the Washington Redskins to another division win over the New York Giants Sunday. He had a efficient game, completing 20-of-32 passes for a 62.5 completion percentage. He threw for 178 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for 13 yards in the win. The Redskins now sit at 5-2 atop the NFC East.

Tim Patrick (Utah)

Patrick caught his first career touchdown in the NFL on Sunday for the Denver Broncos. It came at a critical time for the Broncos, who found themselves down 16-7 to the Kansas City Chiefs with the first half’s time expiring. Patrick was able to get open in the corner of the end zone to catch a 24-yard touchdown pass with only 6 seconds left in the half. Patrick also contributed a 13-yard rush in the eventual loss to the Chiefs.

The following are other local players that made an impact this week.

Taysom Hill (New Orleans Saints) - Hill’s biggest play on Sunday night came on a 44-yard pass to his receiver, Michael Thomas. This put Hill at a 99.9 QBR on the game with a 100 percent completion rating. He also had three rushing attempts for -2 yards in the Saints' win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Fred Warner (San Francisco 49ers) - Warner had seven total tackles in the 49ers' loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
