SALT LAKE CITY — Two men are in serious condition after a head-on crash in Salt Lake City, police said.
The crash took place near the intersection of 800 West and 1300 South about 5:55 p.m., according to Salt Lake police Lt. Jenn Diederich.
A Toyota Corolla was driving west in the center lane of 1300 South when it veered over the center line, colliding head-on with a pickup truck that was heading the opposite direction, Diederich said.
Two men, a 45-year-old and a 57-year-old, had injuries in the crash, Diederich said. Police initially reported that one was in critical condition, and the other was in stable condition. The two men are both now in serious condition, according to police.
Both men were the drivers and only occupants of their respective vehicles, Diederich said. She did not know why the Toyota veered into oncoming traffic, but said alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
1300 South was closed in both directions following the crash, but was expected to reopen between 8:30 and 9 p.m., Diederich said.
