WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says the U.S. has requested Turkey turn over any recording _ "if it exists" _ relating to the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Khashoggi was last seen entering a Saudi consulate in Istanbul on Oct. 2, and Turkish officials believe he was killed by Saudi agents. Trump has noted Saudi leaders' denials and insisted the U.S. must know the facts before taking action. Khashoggi was a Washington Post contributor who had been critical of the crown prince.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — A long-time cannabis advocate says the legalization of recreational marijuana in Canada is a remarkable step forward, but many flaws remain in the law. Dana Larsen is the founding member of the Marijuana Party of Canada and the BC Marijuana Party. He says it's not the end of cannabis activists in Canada.

MEXICO BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Mexico Beach resident Nancy Register returned home to find no trace of the large camper where she'd lived with her husband, Taylor. She was particularly distraught on Wednesday over the loss of a black-and-white photo of her mother, who died from cancer. Taylor Register found a keepsake rock that was given to him by a friend 40 years ago but little else. Residents of hard-hit Mexico Beach are returning home for the first time since Hurricane Michael to see homes devastated by wind and water.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Someone could match all six numbers and win the Mega Millions jackpot, which is now at $900 million, as soon as Friday night when the next drawing is held. And it could happen despite terrible odds _ one in 302.5 million. Lottery officials have advice for whoever holds the prized lottery ticket. They recommend winners put their winning ticket in a safe spot and consult with a financial planner before showing up at lottery headquarters.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Washington Post has published a new column by missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi. In it he warns that Middle East governments "have been given free rein to continue silencing the media at an increasing rate." The Post published the column Wednesday, more than two weeks after Khashoggi was last seen entering the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul. He is presumed dead. Post Global Opinions editor Karen Attiah says she received the column from Khashoggi's assistant a day after he was reported missing.
