OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee is a two-term Democratic governor and former congressman who is best known nationally for his focus on climate issues and renewable energy. But recently, he's taken on a different role: adversary to President Donald Trump.
In a televised moment earlier this year, Inslee told Trump, "we need a little less tweeting here and a little more listening" on the issue of guns. The state also launched a court fight against the president's travel ban.
Inslee knows all about the 2020 presidential chatter that includes his name, but he steers conversations to other elections, namely the dozens of gubernatorial races this year.
As head of the Democratic Governors Association, Inslee wants to see the number of governors from his party increase from 16.
