SALT LAKE CITY — I-80 will be closed overnight Tuesday and Wednesday from Lamb’s Canyon to Jeremy Ranch as officials continue a project that will add a truck lane and a wildlife bridge over the freeway.
Westbound I-80 will be closed from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday from milepost 137 to 141, according to the Utah Department of Transportation’s website. The eastbound side will be closed from 8 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday for the project.
UDOT officials are asking commuters to use I-84 through Ogden or U.S. Highway 189 through Provo Canyon as alternate routes during the closures.
The closure is part of a larger project to add improvements for commuters and wildlife along the highway.
This summer, I-80 is being repaved in both directions from Lamb’s Canyon to west of Kimball Junction. A wildlife bridge is being installed near Parleys Summit, and new wildlife fencing is being added in both directions.
A noise barrier is also being added near Jeremy Ranch. The project is scheduled to be completed by November.
