TIRANA, Albania (AP) — Albanian prosecutors say they have seized property from the country's former prosecutor general due to suspicions of corruption.
Prosecutors in the capital city of Tirana dealing with serious crime announced Monday in a statement the "preventive sequestration" of an apartment and just over two hectares (5.4 acres) of land belonging to Adriatik Llalla, with a total value of 98.772.000 Leks ($918,000; or 783,000 euros).
Llalla, who left office in December, is under investigation for corruption connected to the illegal purchase of real estate assets during his term in office.
Earlier this year, Llalla was barred from entering the United States due to his suspected involvement in corruption.
Llalla has been outside the country for several months.
