SILVER SUMMIT, Summit County — Northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 40/148 will be completely closed from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 11 a.m. Thursday as crews work to fix buckled pavement, officials said.
The closure will be in effect for the first 2 miles of the highway south of the I-80 exit, according to Utah Department of Transportation spokesman John Gleason. It starts at the Silver Summit exit to Highway 40, he said.
People exiting onto Highway 40 from Silver Summit will be detoured east on I-80 and will need to use the Tollgate Canyon bridge to turn around, Gleason said in an email.
Drivers also can go south on U.S. 40 to the state Route 248 exit and get back on Highway 40 northbound. They can then get on I-80 westbound via the flyover bridge at the I-80 interchange.
The pavement buckled on the roadway this past weekend and it extends across both northbound traffic lanes, according to Gleason.
CLOSURE: NB US-40 will close at Silver Summit TONIGHT at 11 pm for concrete repairs in the area. Thursday morning commute will be impacted as work is expected to last thru the afternoon.
