MAGNA — Detectives are still trying to verify a report of a stabbing at a park Sunday evening, police said Tuesday.

Police received a report from a jogger who said she had been confronted by “two or three” individuals who stabbed her as she ran between Magna Copper Park and Copper Club Golf Course about 9:45 p.m., Unified Police Sgt. Melodie Gray said on Sunday. The woman was transported to a hospital in serious condition.

Police K-9s searched the area for evidence Sunday night, but detectives assigned to the case have been unable to find a crime scene or witnesses, Unified police detective Ken Hansen said Tuesday.

Hansen said the woman had stab wounds to one of her arms and her abdomen, but police were seeking an additional medical opinion to see if the wounds were created by another person or were self-inflicted.

The case is still under investigation, Hansen added.
